A geologic formation is a formally named rock stratum or geological unit. When oil or gas is discovered, the underground formation for the producing interval is identified. You can search on either the name of the formation or its geologic age. If the geologic unit appears as hypertext, you can click on the name and see the cumulative production values from our database. Complete production records have only been keypunched since 1985.
