Well Casing and Cementing Data
In order to safely develop New York’s mineral resources, DEC has standards on how a well must be drilled and completed. Casing must be inserted into each well and cement injected between the casing and surrounding rock to create a permanent seal. This stabilizes the well bore and keeps ground water safely isolated behind the pipe. It also stops oil, gas and brine from moving through the well in an uncontrolled manner and causing environmental problems.
Information presented on this page is keypunched from Completion Reports submitted by the original well operator; it has not been checked for quality control. For wells where we do not have a completion report or it was not keypunched, the search results contain only sketchy information. In general, we have only keypunched data for newer wells.
Casing and cementing data is in a common industry format indicating the installation details, length, size, and quality specifications for the four types of casing that may occur in a well (conductor, surface, intermediate, production).
Well casing data is not available at this time.
