New York State Mined Land Reclamation Database
Welcome to New York State DEC’s Mined Land Reclamation database. With the ability to search on 20 different parameters, this system allows quick access to information on New York’s mining industry. Here you can find information on over 3,700 mines and 1,800 companies. Searches based on the location or type of mine can be done in a simple manner. The majority of the companies covered in the database are mine operators, but there are also financial security providers that guarantee mine reclamation. You can query online or download the selected data you need. Results can be saved in either a Microsoft Excel format or in a comma-separated format (CSV).
The Mines Data search covers company information, mine commodity, permit status, acreage, reclamation type and permit dates. Location information includes county, town, latitude, longitude, and other details. A map is available with the location displayed. Inspection results are also included.
The Commodity Data search allows you to find mines by the commodity that they produce such as bluestone, granite, or sand and gravel. There are 30 commodity categories. The search results include the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. For quick access to information formerly posted on the Division’s website showing all mines by commodity category (all active limestone mines, active sandstone mines, etc) click on the Mined Land Reclamation Data Summaries link below.
The Company Data search includes information on mine operators and gives the mine address and contact information. Under this search you can also find companies that provide the financial security instruments that DEC requires to guarantee mine reclamation. Company and address contact information is one of the most frequent information requests DEC receives. If you want just that information fast, click on the Company Contacts List below.
