Description

Pierson Park is a public park located off West Main Street in the Village of Tarrytown, offering a water park, basketball and tennis courts, commuter parking, and access to the Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park. In 2013, improvements were undertaken as part of a restoration project for the Andre Brook. Goals of the project included: restoring the natural hydrology and ecological function of Andre Brook, establishing natural vegetative features to provide wildlife habitat, and capturing and treating stormwater from the surrounding parking lots to filter out oil, grease, and other pollutants before release into the Andre Brook. The green infrastructure practices also capture and release stormwater at a slower pace to prevent erosion along the Andre Brook and Hudson River. Previously, stormwater from parking areas dumped directly into the Andre Brook.
